This 7km route takes you through and around Houghton forest.

Autumn in Houghton

Starting out from the car park by Whiteways Cafe this route winds it way up briefly to the South Downs Way then down and through Houghton forest. As you can imagine this can be technical at times, fraught with Squirrel danger when attached to a bounding hound but worth it for the coffee and bacon sandwich at the finish.

You sure it’s this way?

There is significant scope for exploring the South Downs and there are some lovely routes up towards Bignor and local area. There is a small parking fee which can be paid on site or via the JustPark app.

For the hill lover this location is a dream #hillsarefriends
